Charging Station… the Cheap Way!

I am quite confident that I am not the only parent driven completely insane by Cord Clutter and Mess!

It is a daily uphill losing battle!

I am constantly walking in this room and shoving all the cords back under this table and pulling them up from the back to plug in the kids many electronics.  I get mad at the kids when I walk back in and lo and behold here this jumbled mess is back out from under the table and (on a good day if they bother to plug anything in at all) it is all plugged in from the front and sitting all over the floor.

I can’t speak for everyone, but I think iPads, iPhones, DS’s and such do not belong on the floor.  I for one am not replacing anything that gets stepped on and ruined because of carelessness.

Don’t get me wrong I will give my kids a break in that it is a total pain to fish those charging wires out from under the table and pull them up from the back.  Kids don’t roll like that…. ever…. they will always choose the path of least resistance.

I get it.

So it was time for a solution stat!

I have looked at many a Charging Station Online and in Stores and a) I just never liked what I saw and b) they are too dang expensive.

I have been trying to think of an alternative solution to this problem for a while now… then one night I couldn’t fall asleep and the solution hit me… which did not help me fall asleep either.

A flat Basket was my Answer!  It had to have a somewhat tight weave that was still loose enough to wriggle a cord through but also tight enough to hold it in place once I got it through.

Time to take a trip to the best place on earth – Hobby Lobby!
My added Bonus for the day – 50% off of baskets!!  Here is what I found and it worked like a Champ!!

See those Cords coming through the weave on the basket?  I literally just squeaked them on through and they were not coming out unless forced.

I cannot tell you how Happy this Solution makes me every time I walk in this room!!  And it only cost me $12.99!!!

I also shopped my house for another basket for the under table jumble of cords.
