Chair Pockets...Easy as 1, 2, 3

My son's kindergarten teacher sent out an email asking if anyone owns a Sewing Machine and knows how to use it?

I was the only one out of 23 moms!!! I found that a little surprising...

So it was up to me to be bold and say...yes, I can sew. I wasn't sure what I was about to get myself into, so I was a bit nervous.

But she never asks for anything, so I was happy I could do something for her....

She sends this home with my son and asks if I can repair it??? OUCH...this blow out wasn't even on a seam! This needs way more than a bandage.

I could tell that this Chair Pocket had to be at least 10 years old! So I had to tell her this material is just too worn to save, but I could use the old one as my pattern and make her new ones!

Let me just tell you she wasn't SAD! =)

She was THRILLED.

Boy did I just add a huge project to my plate....but I am doing it for all those sweet little kindergarteners!!

I used some old wrapping paper to trace the old chair pocket....

I folded the fabric and the pattern in half and started cutting away on the denim fabric I purchased from Hobby Lobby (best price I could find with my coupon!)

Well this is the brief version of how I made them...it was time consuming, but so WORTH it! The kids were so happy to get the NEW CHAIR POCKETS!! yay! =)

And here is one in action!

Hope mine last 10 years too!!!

Anyone else make some?? Please share...

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Hugs,
