Chalk Paint Inspiration

So…. I 've had good intentions… for months now!
I broke down and bought this.

I also bought this (to get inspired!).

Quick and Easy Paint Transformations

Yep… you guessed it…. been sitting on a shelf in my office gathering dust for months… ugh…
Lot’s of pretty pictures and practical tips!!  You can buy it directly at her website (and by her I mean Annie Sloan – duh?!  Does anyone not know who she is?).  Or you can do what I did and go here to see who is the “stockist” nearest you.
My “stockist” was Lady Butterbug located at High Street Antiques & Design.  High Street is one of those fab antique malls that has many different booths and dealers (over 50,000 square feet to be exact!) so the treasures are always changing!  I love this place.  I even aspire to become a dealer in their place someday!!  I think that would be so fun to have a booth in which to showcase all of my transformations and finds… I digress (as usual)…. back to chalk paint.
As I love antique malls, I also L.O.V.E. Estate Sales equally.  So many treasures to be found so little time.  Here is the treasure I found at an Estate Sale.

It is this super fabulous Chinoiserie-style coffee table.  It has two smaller tables (or stools?) that slide under each section of the table that mimic the larger table.  This piece of awesomeness is 6 Feet Long!!!!
Lately, this is where it has been living in our home.  There are future dreams of it becoming a coffee table… just not sure if it will be too long… gots to get me some furniture for that room first.

As you can see, I tested the chalk paint on the top of the stool on the right.  I just did not believe that you could paint this stuff right on top of a shiny surface and that it would stick and dry quickly.  Sure enough it did and it did!  As you can also see, this turned out to be the perfect height, and the perfect spot, for the kids computer where they obsessively play Minecraft.

It is also a great spot for Lego Lord of the Rings battles.

I may keep those gold accents… I’ll just add some Rub’n’Buff to perk them up a little.  I’ve also got some big ideas for the tops of the stools… a little ikat maybe?
To get myself inspired I’ve searched out pics of some Chalk Painted pieces done by others in blogland.  Enjoy!!

I could really use this exact piece in my front entry way.  May need to start stalking Craigslist and Garage Sales for this one.

{Source}… can’t find the final source.  Help?

That should be enough to get your juices flowing with creativity.  It’s working for me!  I love the yellow of the piece above… maybe that color could work it’s way into my ikat idea…. hmmmm….
Do you use/love AS Chalk Paint?  Got any great pieces you’ve done in it?  Share!  Link in your comments…

See You Soon…..
