Dirty Little Secret

I’m not going to write about some glamorous reno today.  Nope.  No glossy pictures of a beautiful room (I wish but my rooms just are not there yet).  I am going to talk about a nuts’n’bolts type reno… You know the stuff you gotta do, not the stuff you wanna do!  It’s my dirty little secret.  Well I did clean it actually.  It is just so gross it looks dirty.  It is an issue that has been plaguing me for the last 6 years that I have lived in my current house.  It’s one of those areas in your home that no one else sees but you!  It’s under my kitchen sink… eeeeewwwwwwwwwwww.
I know!  It’s gross!  I told you.  I cannot believe I am outing myself.  Clearly the previous owners had a water leak at some point and it created this beauty… I did just rip out the disgusting shelf paper before I took this picture.  I actually scrubbed under here with soap and water (and have many many times).  Even though my family are the only ones to see this, we had to make a change.  We deserve to look at pretty right?  I headed out to Lowes to see what kind of solution I could find for this… and I found it in the way of peel and stick vinyl!  I did have to use additional glue to get the tiles to stick because this under sink area was in such bad shape – some of the wood and pressed board was pretty weak from the past water damage.  This really was a simple project… I put down the first layer of glue and followed that up with sticking down the vinyl tiles.  My kids even helped with the tiles.
And of course…. they goofed around too!  Here I am telling my 5 year old to stop running around with my camera before he drops it and breaks it.
Nice Lego Guys all over the floor behind me!  Messes happen every time I stop to complete a project…. ugh.  I did also use that roller I am threatening my child with to push down the tiles and make sure the glue was adhering to the tiles as well as the cabinet.  This project only took about an hour and it really looks so much better under my sink!  I no longer feel like I have to put on gloves before I go under there.  Here it is finished.
I promise I will get to some bigger projects soon!
See you Soon…..
